DALLAS, Texas - With midday temperatures in north Dallas topping 100 degrees, CF Pachuca and Santos Laguna trained on the campus of the University of Texas-Dallas at practically the same time, on fields only a few hundred feet from one another.
Despite the plethora of stars on both squads, the media's main focus was on Lewisville, Texas native Francisco Torres, a midfielder for Pachuca who was recruited by Mexican scouts at the age of 16.
The young Mexican-American said he never thought he would have a chance to play professionally so close to his home, and was looking forward to playing in front of family and friends.
While Santos held a more traditional training session, Pachuca took a lighter approach, playing a fun short-sided game where the players were joined by the technical staff, including head coach Enrique Meza.
